March 10 — According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, a Taiwanese man surnamed Lin collapsed while hiking on Shishan (Chai Mountain) on the 9th, suspected of having a heart attack. Due to the rugged terrain making rescue difficult, he was fortunately carried down the mountain in time by helpful fellow hikers and sent to hospital.

Police said that the man surnamed Lin had been hiking on Shishan on the morning of the 9th, took a rest and did pull-ups behind the College of Liberal Arts at National Sun Yat-sen University, when he suddenly collapsed. Fellow hikers nearby quickly reported the incident to the fire department for rescue, but the rugged mountain paths added to the difficulty of the rescue effort.

To speed up the rescue, two cousins surnamed Chen and a hiker surnamed Lü joined the effort to carry the man down the mountain and get him into an ambulance for emergency treatment. The three kind-hearted hikers then left in a hurry, refusing to leave their names.

Police indicated that the man surnamed Lin was suspected of having suffered a heart attack and his condition was not optimistic after being taken to hospital.
