Disabled young man from Henan has bicycle and crutch stolen while cycling to Wuhan.
Zhang Youzhi, a 25-year-old from Henan, planned to cycle from his hometown in Henan all the way to Hainan in late February this year. However, in Wuhan, his bicycle was stolen, along with the elbow crutch that had been placed next to it.
Wuhan was the first stop on Xiao Zhi’s cycling journey. On the afternoon of March 6, he and a companion arrived at the entrance of Wuhan University and found a nearby hotel to stay in. However, when they woke up the next morning, they discovered that the bicycle parked downstairs was missing.
According to Xiao Zhi, there was a pair of elbow crutches and a screw for a prosthetic joint tied to his bike frame when it was stolen. “I don’t know how the thief could still have the nerve to steal the crutches after taking the bike.”
Xiao Zhi said his bicycle was a black-and-white Kailushishi brand model called New Rambler 320; his companion’s bicycle was a red Zhuochi A318. The two mountain bikes together were worth nearly 5,000 yuan.
The pair originally planned to stay in Wuhan for only three days, but this unexpected incident disrupted their schedule. Due to limited funds, they could not afford to buy two new bicycles. However, both said they would continue the trip—whether on foot or by hitchhiking.
