Snowdon, located in Wales, stands at 3,560 feet (approximately 1,085 meters) above sea level and is one of the highest peaks in the UK. The “Foolish Walking Group,” driven by a fearless, almost death-defying attitude, braved the winter chill in just shorts, sneakers, and thin jackets. They went light for the climb, and one member even brought along a dog. Luke, the founder of a hiking safety website, posted a two-minute video of their climb online and used it as a cautionary example to raise awareness about mountaineering safety. He said: “Although no one was injured in the video, if even one of them had fallen, the others would have gone down too.” It is reported that two female members of the group fell from a height of 300 feet (approximately 91 meters) last week.
A spokesperson for the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team said: “The behavior of this group was really foolish.” A spokesperson for the Snowdonia National Park Authority stated that climbers need to choose appropriate gear based on weather, temperature, and terrain conditions to prevent tragic accidents.
