American woman praised for performing silk ribbon dance on cliff without safety harness.
According to American blog news site Gizmodo.com on March 24, recently a video showed silk ribbon dancer Ashley Smith dangling from a lone rock on Flatirons in Colorado without using a safety rope, delivering an incredibly stunning performance.
The piece, titled Maiden Light, was the brainchild of climber, skier, musician, illustrator, and photographer Craig Muderlak. He collaborated with Smith and others to produce this video as an expression of deep appreciation for life.
Smith said she was terrified of the entire plan before the shoot. After all, she had to hang off a cliff with absolutely no safety measures — even though she had practiced countless times on lower cliffs over the years, she still found the task extremely challenging. Fortunately, she ultimately overcame her fear, and her performance was truly astonishing.
