“The hero’s dream that Mount Everest cannot exile, the smile that Mount Everest cannot cool — I know your heart is surging with burning blood...” The renowned Tibetan singer Yongzhong Erji once sang this passionate anthem, “Mount Everest,” on the snowy plateau, and Everest is also a sacred place in the hearts of all mountaineering enthusiasts.
Reporters learned on the 1st from the organizers of the Chongqing “Everest Summit” event that this civilian “mountaineering team” is now publicly recruiting 9 members citywide to climb Mount Everest, marking the first such civilian-organized summit attempt in Chongqing.
A representative from Sunac China’s Chongqing branch, one of the event organizers, introduced that this “Everest Summit” activity will officially depart in mid-May this year for a half-month Everest climbing and survival experience. “We hope that through this civilian Everest climbing initiative, society can learn more about the ecological conditions of Everest and contribute to its protection and the preservation of our planet.”
“Climbing Mount Everest is an activity that demands high levels of professionalism and technical skill,” the official stated. This climbing expedition will start from Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5,200 meters — a high elevation and a challenging endeavor. Therefore, the publicly recruited team members must not only have a strong sense of adventure but also possess robust physical fitness and the ability to adapt to the harsh high-altitude environment, preferably with prior mountaineering experience above 3,500 meters.
Additionally, the recruitment criteria for this civilian Everest “mountaineering team” specify that applicants must be between 20 and 50 years old, passionate about environmental protection and public welfare, demonstrate strong teamwork skills, and have achieved excellence in their respective fields.
It is understood that the event will organize a professional advisory team to evaluate applicants in areas such as physical fitness, mental resilience, mountaineering knowledge, and environmental awareness, ultimately selecting 9 individuals to serve as the “climbing” team members. These selected members will receive professional wilderness survival guidance and physical training, with all expenses covered by Sunac Jiuxi Terrace.
The event organizers stated that this is a journey of exploration for both body and soul. You can let go of all identities, statuses, and work to experience the world’s most simple yet ultimate beauty.
