On March 22, 2013, the picturesque city of Hangzhou welcomed the inaugural Hangzhou 100 km Trail Race. The 100 km race featured an accumulated elevation gain of over 7,300 meters, and participants had to complete it within 32 hours. Despite the extremely high difficulty level, the first edition attracted 205 runners from both China and abroad. TECNICA’s trail running team (TTT) members also participated in this race.
At 8:00 a.m., the runners set off on time. The intense start proved too much for many, with a significant number of withdrawals occurring at CP2. However, the TTT athletes delivered outstanding performances, achieving remarkable results: Wang Qian secured 8th place with an impressive time of 20:32:43; Wang Yan followed closely, tying for 12th with a time of 21:39:28; and finally, Wang Daqing and Lü Guodong crossed the finish line together with a time of 25 hours and 28 minutes. Additionally, Liang Xinde, Zhang Guangya, and Chen Shuwen, who all wore TECNICA shoes throughout the race, achieved 4th, tied 12th, and 17th places respectively. Among them, Liang Xinde also received sponsorship from TECNICA and will represent the brand at a top-tier international trail running event in Europe at the end of May. With a completion rate of less than 40%, all members of the TECNICA Trail Running Team successfully finished the Hangzhou 100.
Also on the same day, at the 2014 ASICS Hangzhou Mountain Marathon held in Hangzhou, Gu Bing from TECNICA China Trail Running Team (TTT) won the men’s full marathon championship. He was also the champion of this race in 2013, achieving back-to-back victories. Congratulations on his outstanding performance.
Hangzhou has long been known as “Paradise on Earth,” blessed with ideal conditions. However, the Hangzhou 100 Trail Race is an extremely endurance-testing mountain running event. The course covers most of Hangzhou’s scenic areas, primarily following the West Lake mountain range, with only the final 10 kilometers on flat terrain. This grueling and mentally challenging course shows that trail running demands not just physical strength and stamina, but also psychological resilience.
