Sitting on a large rock in the mountains with your legs dangling over the edge—super thrilling. You don’t need to travel all the way to Yilan’s Eagle Rock Peak to capture this alternative beauty of cliffside photos. In Taipei City, there are two mountain spots where you can take such unique cliff-view photos. These stunning shots have even inspired girls to fall in love with hiking and break a sweat for the perfect photo.

Golden Face Mountain – Scissors Stone

Located on Neihu’s Golden Face Mountain Hiking Trail, this spot is famous for its unique Scissors Stone formation at the summit and the breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views. The trailhead is located next to Minghsin University of Science and Technology, where you can already see nearly vertical rock walls. As the slope increases, the path transitions from stone steps to large rock surfaces. Halfway up the mountain, the distinct stone fortress stands out. Continuing along the trail, you’ll find two large rock columns standing tall. Only by climbing these can you reach the very top.

When viewed from the direction of Bi Shan Yan, the massive rock at the summit resembles a sharp eagle’s beak, hence the name “Scissors Stone.” Despite its modest elevation of just 258 meters, it carries a majestic alpine feel. From here, you can gaze out over Neihu’s Dapi Pond and the Taipei city skyline, with expansive and stunning views. This unique sight has attracted many young women to attempt conquering it. Even though the hike takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes, leaving everyone sweaty and hot, it hasn't stopped girls from reaching the summit to take their own commemorative photos. That's the charm of Scissors Stone.
