Over the past two years, China’s outdoor market has been sluggish, with competition among brands becoming increasingly fierce, especially in the core market where the competition has taken on an unhealthy state. During the same period, the rapid growth of online e-commerce sales has changed and even dominated the market’s development. Emerging forces from the fashion industry and OEM factories have begun to enter the core outdoor market. In 2014, the situation in China’s outdoor market improved somewhat, showing signs of recovery. Investigators in China’s outdoor industry stated, “Multiple signs indicate that China’s outdoor market began to return to normal in 2014. Some fashion brands and OEM suppliers started to reduce or even abandon their outdoor product lines. In the end, the leading brands in the core outdoor market emerged as the winners in market competition, and their market shares have been gradually expanding.”

With the market’s recovery, many leading professional outdoor brands have confirmed their participation in the 9th Asia Outdoor Show, to be held in Nanjing from July 23–26 this year, among which first-time exhibitors include: GORE-TEXSuunto、and Odlo, among others.

To further develop the Asia Outdoor and Asia Bike exhibitions, the organizers—Nanjing Ningfei International Exhibition Co., Ltd., Messe Friedrichshafen GmbH from Germany, and Beijing Demans Exhibition & Consulting Co., Ltd.—signed a new agreement for strategic cooperation over the next five years, establishing a closer partnership. Through consultation, the German side will take on greater responsibilities in market support and strategic decision-making for both exhibitions, assist with market research, and leverage its strengths to play a more significant role in Germany and the Beijing region.
