According to a May 22 report by the British newspaper Daily Mail, John All, a professor of geography and environmental sciences at Western Kentucky University in the United States, accidentally fell 70 feet (about 21 meters) into an ice crevasse while climbing in the Himalayas. He broke five ribs and his arm, dislocated his shoulder joint, and suffered internal bleeding. It took him six hours to climb out of the crevasse. He then requested helicopter rescue via Facebook and documented his harrowing experience on the social media platform.
