From July 25 to 28, the 2014 Yunnan Zhaotong Dashanbao National Outdoor Invitational will be held in Dashanbao Town, Zhaoyang District, Zhaotong City. The event includes three competitions: a lakeside cycling-run combination, cross-country race, and orienteering, as well as activities like themed photography and a bonfire music evening. It has drawn more than 400 athletes from over 40 domestic and international sports clubs across the country, as well as outdoor enthusiasts from Zhaotong City. As one of the event’s sponsors, Garmin will provide bicycle computers and running watches as prizes for outstanding individual performances. Additionally, Garmin will set up an exhibition booth at the venue, where interested attendees can visit and experience the products.

Mountain outdoor cross-country racing is a well-established and significant competition in outdoor sports. Participating teams rely on teamwork and collective spirit to complete the course in the shortest time possible. Its geography, transportation, and various resources generally meet the requirements for hosting large-scale outdoor events. Covering 192 square kilometers, the Dashanbao Scenic Area combines landscapes, flowers, lakes, waterfalls, and rare birds, blending vastness, beauty, ruggedness, and mystery. It is an excellent destination for photography, scientific expeditions, and adventure tourism, offering ideal conditions for hosting mountain outdoor sports.

Schedule:
July 25, 2014: Athlete check-in (those needing to arrive early to acclimate to the venue may contact the organizing committee for arrangements; all fees except scenic area tickets are self-funded)
July 26, 2014: Competition begins after the opening ceremony with the cycling-run combination race. Starting from the town, cyclists will ride along roads and begin the lakeside cycling segment, finishing back in town. The day’s route covers 50–60 kilometers.
July 27, 2014: Cross-country race and orienteering, with a total distance of 20 kilometers, incorporating various outdoor skills such as rope use, direction finding, and fire starting by friction.
