Since the opening of Tibet’s first mountaineering summer camp on July 20, the Tibet Mountaineering Team has hosted batches of 45 young students from Beijing University of Technology, Beihang University, Renmin University of China, the University of Hong Kong, and Yuan Ze University in Taiwan. Under the guidance of experienced mountaineering coaches, they received training in wilderness survival, mountain biking, and professional mountaineering knowledge and skills, and then, led by high-altitude coaches, made their attempt on the summit of 6,206-meter-high Qizhi Peak.
Qizhi Peak is located in the western section of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain Range. The area around the peak boasts beautiful scenery and numerous snow-capped mountains. With moderate climbing difficulty and relatively low risk, it is an ideal mountain for entry-level mountaineering enthusiasts. The renowned Tibet Mountaineering Conference, well-known both in China and abroad, has been held on Qizhi Peak in recent years, and many mountaineers have used it as a stepping stone to tackle even higher altitudes.
