The Midi National Campus Band Competition has gone through three years with the enthusiastic participation of rock music enthusiasts and key forces from various universities. Through one exciting and intense competition after another, more and more outstanding campus rock bands have begun to emerge and thrive across the country. These bands meet, compete, and encourage each other through the platform provided by the competition, and ultimately realize their dreams on the stage of the Midi Music Festival, making the Midi National Campus Band Competition the most talked-about event among rock-loving students in universities nationwide.
At the finals of last year’s Midi National Campus Band Competition — the Qing Stage of the 2013 Yangtze River Midi Music Festival — the bands Chenmi, Madame Hormone, and Three-Quarter Dead claimed the championship, runner-up, and third place respectively with their superb skills and remarkable performances under the witness of an enthusiastic audience. Meanwhile, the top three bands from the 2012 Midi National Campus Band Competition — Monkey Legion, Careless, and Noise Gate — were invited to perform on the stage of the 2013 Beijing Midi Music Festival. The seeds have taken root and sprouted, gradually becoming the rising young forces in China’s rock music scene.
This year’s Midi Campus Band Competition officially kicks off online registration starting today. Except for the top three bands from previous Midi National Campus Band Competition finals, any student band from universities across the country can sign up. After the preliminary round, where professional judges conduct comprehensive evaluations, the winning bands will advance to the finals at the Qing Stage of the 2014 Yangtze River Midi Music Festival in October to compete in this year’s most thrilling ultimate campus rock battle.
