The winners of the 38th Golden Tripod Awards, an annual highlight in Taiwan’s publishing industry, were recently announced. This year, over 1,800 books and magazines entered the competition, and 41 titles stood out to receive the Golden Tripod Award as recommended outstanding publications. Among them, “Outside” in Outdoor Exploration, which has been published for just over two years, earned the favor and recommendation of the judges for its professional, fresh, and diverse global outlook and perspective on life.

“Outside” in Outdoor Exploration is Taiwan’s first professional magazine dedicated to diverse outdoor activities, ecological exploration, and skill learning both locally and abroad. Its content covers: hiking, trekking, rock climbing, camping, canyoning, surfing, road running, ecological exploration, canoeing, bike expeditions, rafting, orienteering, snow mountaineering, skiing, ice climbing, tree climbing, rappelling, hot springs in wild streams, cave exploration, and more. Each outdoor sport derived from nature has its own fascinating and intriguing aspects, which is why many people get hooked after trying them. However, these outdoor sports differ from general leisure activities or tourism because they involve facing ever-changing environmental challenges and numerous uncertainties and risks in nature. In addition to mustering the courage to overcome fear, participants also need to possess specialized knowledge, adaptability, and the correct and safe use of equipment—there's no room for carelessness. Precisely because every outdoor activity has its unique technical aspects, many people only know part of the picture. The original intention behind launching “Outside” in Outdoor Exploration was to bring everyone closer to mountains, oceans, valleys, cliffs, snowy landscapes, and caves, sharing more experiences and emotions from outdoor exploration, hoping to inspire more people to venture into nature and deeply experience the joy of these outdoor sports, while also enriching their perspectives on life, enhancing personal potential, and strengthening willpower. Good magazine content can change lives.
