The recruitment for the third stop of the VAUDE Cycling to the Mountains environmental series — cycling around Taiwan and climbing snow-capped mountains — has officially launched. This time, participants can not only continue to enjoy the thrill of cycling and mountaineering, but also become beginner-level instructors for the U.S. Leave No Trace (LNT) “Leave No Trace in the Wilderness” program through a study tour experience. The recruitment period will run from September through mid-October, with 20 team members being recruited. In addition to VAUDE sponsoring professional outdoor gear for each participant, MAOGEAR and 3M Thinsulate are also supporting this event.
November in Taiwan is free from raging typhoons and the scorching heat of summer. Taking Taiwan’s climate characteristics into full consideration, the activity is tentatively scheduled for November 8 to 22. This 15-day exploration journey of cycling around Taiwan and climbing snow-capped mountains is not a solo adventure — you’ll be accompanied by a group of fellow outdoor enthusiasts who share your passion, making the trip a journey of shared experiences. By cycling across Taiwan, during the approximately 1,000-kilometer island loop that spans ten days, you’ll encounter a variety of landscapes including wetland parks, coastal highways, Sun Moon Lake, canyon scenery, and coastal erosion landforms, nearly taking in the full beauty of the precious island of Taiwan. The mountain to be climbed this time is Snow Mountain, standing at an elevation of 3,886 meters — Taiwan’s second highest peak. Snow Mountain boasts a complete alpine ecosystem and rare glacial relics from subtropical regions, making it truly captivating. Starting from the Snow Mountain trailhead, you’ll weave through dense forests, full of the mystery of adventure. Additionally, during the climb to Snow Mountain East Peak, a beginner-level LNT instructor training course will be conducted, where you’ll learn more about mountain environmental protection.
Cycling to the mountains is an environmentally friendly outdoor approach that combines two exciting activities.
