Conquer the ridges and ride the wind and cold

    On September 30, the 12th Tibet Mountaineering Conference, sponsored by the professional outdoor gear brand Osprey, will hold its departure ceremony at the Yangbajing High-Altitude Training Base, which sits at an elevation of 4,300 meters. The renowned Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer also provided support for this event.

    The 12th Tibet Mountaineering Conference is organized by the Tibet Sports Bureau and co-hosted by the Tibet Mountaineering Association, the Tibet Mountaineering Team, and the Tibet Sports Industry and Facilities Development Management Center. Having successfully held eleven editions, the conference has continuously promoted the development of mountaineering and sports in Tibet.

    The participants of this year’s Tibet Mountaineering Conference include professional mountaineers, Osprey brand partners, TAG Heuer members, outdoor media representatives, and mountaineering enthusiasts from across the country. Based on the difficulty level, the conference offers two routes: one is the Qizhi Peak climb designed for professional mountaineers, and the other is a mass hiking route open to a wider range of outdoor enthusiasts. As a traditional highlight of the conference, the biggest challenge is ascending Qizhi Peak, which stands at an altitude of 6,206 meters. Located in the western section of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain Range, the peak features an average slope of around 50 degrees, stunning surrounding scenery, and a host of snow-capped summits, making it an ideal destination for domestic mountaineers to challenge nature and test their climbing skills. In addition, this year’s conference has introduced new activities, including a mass mountaineering event and a highland mountain bike cross-country race, offering a rich outdoor experience for national outdoor sports enthusiasts.
