It all started as a crazy idea!--a line from one of the 2014 Banff Mountain Film Festival Tour films, “Paradise,” which also echoes the spirit of Banff culture and the Asian Cycling Expo.
This is a grand gathering for outdoor enthusiasts, extreme sports lovers, adventurers, and environmentalists around the world; it’s an “Outdoor Oscars” film festival covering themes such as outdoor culture, adventure, sports, environment, and “the last unexplored places on Earth”; it’s the ultimate expression of mountain culture’s creative spirit and the spirit of outdoor exploration; and it’s even become a global synonym and trendsetter for outdoor culture.
Such a feast for outdoor lovers is about to join forces with the Asian Cycling Expo. On October 10–11 at the expo site, the latest global outdoor documentaries of 2014 will be screened, bringing an exciting, limitless experience to both Chinese and international outdoor fans. The Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival originated in 1975 in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, initiated by renowned mountaineers John Amatt and Chic Scott, and has since become an annual event for outdoor enthusiasts worldwide. In 2009, China became the 32nd country to host the touring Banff Mountain Culture and Film Festival.
The types of films shown have expanded from their initial focus on adventure to include extreme sports, nature exploration, and human interest stories. In recent years, documentaries on environmental themes have also gained significant attention.
