A subsea tunnel from Sakhalin to Hokkaido  Train from Tokyo to London is no longer a dream

Japan plans to expand the route of the Trans-Siberian Railway. If realized, travelers could take a train directly from Tokyo to London — a journey of approximately 10,000 kilometers, offering a truly unique way to travel.

According to the UK's Daily Mail,this new plan would extend the current final stop of the Trans-Siberian Railway in Vladivostok, connecting via bridges and tunnels to Russia’s Sakhalin Island, then continuing through a 40-kilometer tunnel to Hokkaido, Japan. Reports from both Japan and Russia state that the Tokyo government is currently discussing further development plans with potential investors.

In the future, the completion of the new route will boost more vibrant commercial exchanges between neighboring countries, and of course, offer travelers even more diverse destination options. Long-distance train travel is definitely a uniquely memorable experience.
