The nationally celebrated National Day Golden Week has just come to a close. Stimulated by the eight-day holiday, the number of outbound Chinese tourists and their overseas spending both reached new highs in 2014. China’s outbound tourism market continues to grow rapidly. An expanding middle class, more relaxed visa policies, and improving local infrastructure are all accelerating this momentum. Moreover, the advancement of technology—such as mobile internet, smartphones, and navigation maps—has become a key factor influencing Chinese tourists’ choices for overseas travel.

According to reports, since its launch, LvTu (Travel Map), which supports offline map downloads, has provided travel assistance services to 7 million Chinese people traveling abroad and helped 2 million inbound tourists explore China, with nearly 10 million mobile users. During this year's National Day Golden Week, downloads of LvTu exceeded one million, reflecting the rapid growth of independent travel in China. The rise of travel navigation maps like LvTu has, to some extent, driven the development of independent overseas travel in China.
