On October 24, 2014, the Tsinghua University Mountaineering Team held the 2014 Qiaoer Mountain Report at the Old School of Economics and Management Auditorium at Tsinghua University. Teachers Zhu Xiaodong and Wang Fengxiao from the Tsinghua University Youth League Committee’s Sports Team Work Group, media representatives from China Youth Daily and Tsinghua University News Network, as well as student organizations from sister universities attended the report.
Zhao Chao, the team leader of the climb, gave an introduction and summary of the Qiaoer Mountain expedition. The Tsinghua University Mountaineering Team climbed Qiaoer Mountain (with the main peak at an elevation of 6,168m), located in Dege County, Garzê Prefecture, Sichuan Province, from July 1 to 11, 2014. Thirteen team members and three coaches were divided into Groups A and B to attempt the summit separately. In the end, six members and two coaches from Group A successfully summited the main peak of Qiaoer Mountain, while Group B, due to heavy fog and snowstorms, did not reach the summit but ascended to approximately 6,050m. Zhao Chao commented that the climb was a success, with team members gaining rich mountaineering experiences. The success of the activity was made possible through the understanding and support of parents, Youth League teachers, fellow clubs, and sponsors. He expressed gratitude to sponsors FENIX, E鼓, MBC, GOTECH, ALICE GEAR, Huaxing Communications, Kenwood, Mentholatum, Zhongying Intelligence, and Universal Insurance, noting that their support was a crucial guarantee for the expedition.. A documentary of the climb was then shown, recounting the details of the event.
Teacher Wang Fengxiao then spoke, expressing his recognition of the climb and praise for the team members’ courage to challenge themselves. He also expressed high hopes for future climbing activities and wished them safety and success.
Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Tsinghua University Mountain and Field Association, the report concluded with the association’s anthem “White Dove,” marking the end of the event.
