Pandas’ World Tour Makes Next Stop in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, November 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The 1600 pandas embarking on a world tour to promote panda conservation and the concept of sustainable environmental development are about to set foot in Malaysia. As part of the “1600 Pandas Tour Malaysia” campaign, these panda ambassadors will visit over 15 iconic landmarks across the country. Themed “Promoting Cultural CreativityXand Conservation,” the Pandas’ World Tour will hold its first (and only) touring exhibition in Malaysia from December 21, 2014 to January 25, 2015.

The 1600 pandas have gained widespread attention on social media and active participation from various countries around the globe. After a long five-year journey since their first appearance in France, the pandas have finally officially arrived on Malaysian soil. Launched in 2008, the “1600 Pandas World Tour” is a collaboration between the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the renowned French artist Paulo (Paulo Grangeon), which has so far been held in numerous countries and/regionsaround the world, including more than 100 touring exhibitions in places such as France, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Malaysia will be the third Asian location to host the 1600 panda ambassador touring exhibition, following Hong Kong.
Paulo Grangeon is a passionate French paper mache artist with over 30 years of experience. Using recycled paper, he designed 1600 paper mache panda models in various poses, sizes, and expressions, representing the current global population of wild pandas.
In conjunction with this Malaysian touring exhibition, Paulo Grangeon will specially create limited-edition paper mache panda models that reflect local cultural characteristics for workshops in Malaysia. The purpose of the “1600 Pandas World Tour” is to raise awareness among Malaysians about panda conservation, care for our living environment, and understand the importance of preserving natural ecosystems.
The 1600 pandas will appear at over 15 iconic landmarks across Malaysia, allowing locals to witness and experience the charm of the pandas firsthand.
