As someone from the northeast, I’m used to seeing snowflakes flying in winter and have always longed for the spring-like weather and warm sunshine of the south. Right at the start of this winter, my best friend and I finally took a spontaneous trip. Our goal was to eat seafood in Sanya, Hainan. I’ve been dreaming about the legendary Ends of the Earth (Tianya Haijiao) for ages, wanting to listen to the sound of waves crashing and even more so, to feel the beauty of the sun and sandy beaches.

The shop has a great atmosphere, generous portions, and my best friend and I ate to our heart’s content. We enjoyed it so much on the first day that we went back again the next. After eating their seafood, I felt like the stuff I’d had back home was totally fake—this is the real deal. After having Yingjie’s seafood, I doubt I’ll be able to enjoy anyone else’s. But every rose has its thorn...
In the evening, my best friend and I lay in our carefully chosen sea-view room, sipped a little wine, ate fresh tropical fruit, and admired the serene yet dynamic sea. With a life like this, what more could one ask for?
When you’re surrounded by the bone-chilling northern winds, heavy winter coats, and puffy down jackets of winter, why not come to Sanya to experience spring? Winters here are warm, the skies are azure blue, the fruits and vegetables are the freshest, the seafood is the most authentic, and the uniquely romantic vibe is something everyone should experience at least once.
