Caring for Children with Autism, Lighting Up Christmas Trees in Their Hearts
Hangzhou, China, December 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- When people think of Christmas, they often picture Christmas trees adorned with colorful lights and Santa Claus with his white beard bringing joy and happiness to children. All of this became a reality on the evening of November 27, 2014, when The Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake, in collaboration with Hangzhou International School, held a heartwarming and charitable Christmas tree lighting gala to raise funds for the children at Hangzhou Carnation Autism Rehabilitation Center. The funds will be used to build new classrooms and support the education of children from impoverished families.

The hotel pioneered the event by selling tickets for the Christmas tree lighting. A six-meter-tall Christmas tree, flown in specially from the United States and decorated with colorful ornaments and ribbons, welcomed all the philanthropic guests. At the gala, guests enthusiastically donated to the charity boxes held by the “Angels of Love.” The charity auction was especially thrilling, raising RMB 100,000 in just two rounds. In addition, the hotel set up a special sales area for handmade crafts by children with autism—exquisite flowers, adorable hand-painted T-shirts, and childlike paintings that captured everyone’s attention. Accompanied by the angelic voices of the international school choir, the event raised a total of RMB 150,000 in charitable donations that evening.

Since its opening in 2010, The Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake has received much care and support. Now, the hotel hopes to give back in a small way to the children who need help. The charity drive is still ongoing. Before December 31, 2014, donation boxes will be available at the hotel front desk, where you can contribute directly.
