December 2014 has arrived in the blink of an eye. To the average person, the arrival of December marks the coldest period of the year, when everyone is about to hunker down for the winter. But for skiing enthusiasts, December signals the start of a new season of intense skiing.
Although skiing is not as widely practiced in China as gold-medal sports such as table tennis or badminton, it still attracts more and more people to join the skiing community every year. On one hand, the thrill of skiing aligns well with the current younger generation's value of challenging themselves. On the other hand, the joint bid by Beijing and Zhangjiakou for the 2022 Winter Olympics, along with the national promotion of ice and snow fitness activities, has fueled unprecedented enthusiasm among the public.
In addition, since most ski resorts are located in suburban areas with fresh air and away from noise pollution, it has become common to see families—of all ages—heading to ski resorts together for vacation. Skiing has transcended the realm of traditional sports and is gradually becoming a new lifestyle, increasingly accepted and embraced by more Chinese families.

Establishing an internationally Olympic-standard ski resort will not only accelerate the popularization of skiing as a whole, but also attract international skiing enthusiasts and enable the hosting of top-level skiing competitions in China, thereby enhancing the country’s international influence and overall strength in snow sports.
