Overview of Guishui Greenway
Guishui GreenwayBuilt onYanqing Guishui Forest Parkas its foundation, it was initiated on April 28, 2009, and completed in its entirety by the end of October 2011. Following the course of Yanqing’s mother river — the Guishui River — it stretches from the Cao Guanying Reservoir in the east to the Kangzhang Bridge in the west, and extends as far north as the Sanlihe Wetland Park. Spanning the east-west expanse of Yanqing County, the greenway has a total length of 18 kilometers and covers an area of 1,026 hectares. Relying on the Guishui River and the forested areas along its banks,Yanqing Guishui Forest Parkadheres to the design philosophy of taking the water as the axis, the forest as the body, integrating landscape and city, fostering harmonious development, and creating a "one-axis, three-segments, fifteen-sight" Guishui scenic corridor. The one-axis refers to the water axis; the three segments are: the upstream section: Natural Ecological Leisure Area; the midstream section: Cultural Fitness and Leisure Area; the downstream section: Natural Scenic Area. The fifteen scenic spots include: Elephant Taming Garden, Mid-mountain Lake, Rose Garden, Breeze Garden, Tranquil Garden, Maple Autumn Garden, Secluded Garden, Flower Expo Garden, Elegant Lotus Garden, Italian Garden, Terraced Garden, Sanlihe Park, Willow Park, Spring Fragrance Garden, and Tree Fragrance Garden.
Guishui Greenway in Yanqing CountyFrom the initial design phase, a significant proportion of ecological and leisure functions were integrated into the planning. The entire park features a three-tiered pathway system comprising vehicle roads, cycling paths, and pedestrian walkways, all interwoven throughout the site. Sectional amenities such as boat docks and tourist information centers have been strategically placed to enhance visitor comfort and enjoyment. The aim is to create a healthy greenway space that is ecological, natural, and closely connected to forests and water. Upon the park’s completion, it coincided with the grand inauguration of the 2011 Tour de Beijing cycling race. Serving as the main scenic race route in the Yanqing competition zone, weGuishui Greenwayundertook focused upgrades and improvements, adding systematic signage for scenic spots and installing specialized directional signs for cycling routes. A wealth of flowers and cultural sculptures were used for decoration, highlighting the cultural identity of Guichuan amidst the pastoral charm and fostering a vibrant cycling culture atmosphere.
