Taking Veterans of the War of Resistance to See the Sea
They are a group of great veterans of the War of Resistance, whose experiences move every generation of Chinese people. They once braved gunfire and bullets, they lived through life and death… To transcend this extraordinary life, they embarked on a spontaneous and splendid journey in the twilight of their lives. Though their right hand may no longer salute as forcefully as before, and their slightly bent backs are no longer as strong and upright, they are forever the most admirable soldiers. Tujia welcomes the veterans home.
After dinner, the veterans returned to the Tujia Sunshine Coast branch, where staff had prepared the movie Assembly. The veterans were deeply engrossed, with countless moving memories surging in their hearts. Tujia staff accompanying them used Polaroid cameras to capture moments of the trip, hoping this seaside journey would leave them with beautiful memories. In the rooms at Tujia Sunshine Coast, accompanied by the sea breeze and moonlight, the veterans and their families spent two unforgettable nights.
Mid-Autumn Festival: Reuniting Left-Behind Children with Their Working Parents
They are a special group. Living in picturesque mountainous areas, they are unable to reunite with their parents who work away from home year-round. They are the left-behind children in the mountains.
Before this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, the heartwarming initiative “Mid-Autumn Reunion, Tujia Cares — Focus on Left-Behind Children in Mountainous Areas” was warmly launched in Nanning. Tujia Guangxi invited left-behind children from Du’an County to reunite with their parents working in Nanning. Watching the joyful smiles of the parents and children, rather than seeing this as a socially responsible act by an industry leader, it’s more like what Tujia wants all travelers to experience — warm reunions and happy trips.
Tujia staff took the children and parents up to Nanning’s landmark “Cloud Top” to take in the city’s vibrant nightlife. The children excitedly exclaimed, “It’s the first time we’ve been so high up — so this is what the city looks like at night.”
Then they visited many other places. Along the way, several families laughed and chatted together—the joy of reunion is that simple. They said it was their first time visiting an aquarium, and their first time realizing how mysterious the ocean can be. The zoo, the aquarium, and Fengling Children’s Park—all filled the children with happiness under the company of their parents. Back at the Tujia Poly Childlike Fun branch in the evening, the children decided to cook for themselves, preparing a reunion dinner for their hardworking parents to thank them for their efforts. The kitchen became a little world where the children could express gratitude—each one a little master chef, cooking with earnest care. Beating eggs, preparing ingredients, stir-frying dishes—every action reflected the children’s deep filial love.
The children showed off their cooking skills in the spacious Tujia apartments, which could easily accommodate a family meal for ten. The parents ate the meals cooked by their own children, and the feeling in their hearts is perhaps something only they could understand. It turns out that the definition of home is really that simple: a warm house, loved ones, a hearty meal, and a joyful mood.
Who says Mid-Autumn Festival must involve mooncakes? Tujia staff prepared a heartwarming cake for the reunited children and parents. This Mid-Autumn, the children made a wish. The handsome front desk staff at Tujia Poly Childlike Fun branch brought delicious fruit to spend the festival with these special guests who had come from afar.
The short two days passed quickly. The children said it was the most memorable Mid-Autumn Festival they’d ever had. They wished they too had a warm and cozy home like Tujia, where they could cook every day and wait for their parents to return, or have friends over for meals and play on weekends…
