2014 was a year of remarkable progress for Maoshan. On November 28, the 600,000 residents of Jurong received great news: the National Tourism Administration announced online that Jurong Maoshan Scenic Area, along with nine other sites including Shanxi Province’s Qiao Family Compound Cultural Park and Shaanxi Province’s Famen Temple Buddhist Culture Scenic Area, had been promoted to national 5A-level tourist attractions. The National Tourism Administration would soon officially bestow the designation. With this, Jurong Maoshan Scenic Area became the 18th national 5A-level tourist attraction in Jiangsu Province and the second in Zhenjiang City.
