2014.12.22 Black Diamond held a professional lecture titled "An Overview of Avalanches and Rescue" at the Beijing 4+2 Gear Depot for domestic mountaineering and skiing enthusiasts. The speaker, Mr. Kang Hua, has received avalanche knowledge and rescue training from professional institutions in the United States and France. That evening, Mr. Kang explained to the participating outdoor sports and backcountry snow enthusiasts his experience and knowledge on avalanche incident analysis, basic judgment methods for avoiding avalanches, essential gear for backcountry travel, and avalanche rescue. After more than a decade of popularizing skiing in China—from machine-groomed slopes to overseas powder snow—many skiers are no longer unfamiliar with these terrains. However, avalanche incidents during ski mountaineering have occurred domestically, highlighting the need for more specialized knowledge and equipment in this sport. Enhancing the snow safety awareness and skills of domestic mountaineering and skiing enthusiasts is another mission Black Diamond is promoting in China. Recently, Black Diamond has also partnered with Beijing Nanshan Ski Resort and other institutions to host Ski Mountaineering Lecture Series, offering systematic learning and exchange opportunities through simulation training and progressive teaching methods.
