In October 4, 2014, after the successful hosting of the 17th Asian Games — a major event for 4.5 billion Asians — Incheon has steadily become a focal point of Hallyu culture. It is said that there are even more attractions in Incheon, some of which are known only through word of mouth. To uncover more of Incheon’s Hallyu charm, this reporter set out to explore every corner of the city.
"My Love from the Star" – Jun Ji-hyun, Kim Soo-hyun
It is reported that most scenes of the recent Korean drama "My Love from the Star," which became a massive hit across Asia, were filmed in Incheon. The show’s lead actors, Jun Ji-hyun and Kim Soo-hyun, have truly served as tourism ambassadors for the city. The villa area where the character Do Min-joon lives on Ganghwa Island, the musical fireworks cruise at Incheon Port, and the seafood barbecue in Yeongjong Island have all become must-visit spots for families and couples traveling to Incheon. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a stroll through Incheon Songdo’s Central Park and outdoor art installations like Tri-Bowl and NC CUBE. Tri-Bowl is a modern Korean outdoor art piece that showcases a beautifully sculpted curved form. NC CUBE is a comprehensive cultural space that combines dining and shopping. The picturesque Incheon University, where Professor Do teaches in the drama, along with the Incheon City Museum, are also filming locations for "My Love from the Star." The museum houses the crystal bamboo hairpin that symbolizes the love between Cheon Song-yi and Do Min-joon, and has recently become one of Korea’s popular tourist attractions.
