Minneapolis, USA and Hong Kong, January 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As the only low-cost airline in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Express Airways (HK Express) has recently successfully implemented two hosted solutions from Navitaire -- New Skies® Passenger reservation system and SkyLedger® Revenue accounting system.

Hong Kong Express Airways selected Navitaire solutions to help drive revenue growth and enhance customer service across its network covering 15 cities in Asia. Navitaire’s integrated system provides Hong Kong Express Airways with a flexible platform to deliver differentiated services and boost profitability through upselling and cross-selling by offering customized options to passengers. Hong Kong Express Airways chose to partner with Navitaire due to its advanced information technology platform and successful track record in serving numerous leading global full-service and low-cost airlines.

Navitaire is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Accenture (NYSE: ACN), specializing in providing information technology and business solutions for industries such as aviation, high-speed rail, and public transport.

Hong Kong Express Airways Commercial Director Luke Lovegrove said: "We have transformed from a full-service carrier to a low-cost airline. This transformation has doubled our passenger volume year-on-year over the past year, tripled our flight mileage, and cut costs by one-third. By adopting the industry-leading Navitaire platform and its complementary solutions, we will continue to execute our revenue-generating strategy and support ongoing business expansion. By the end of 2015, our destinations will increase to 30 cities, and we will continue to offer affordable ticket options to more passengers, fulfilling their travel aspirations."

Navitaire’s New Skies passenger reservation system is a comprehensive air passenger sales and management solution, integrating online sales, mobile booking and check-in, ancillary revenue growth, airport check-in, streamlined boarding processes, departure control, and real-time reporting. This modular system is suitable for various airline business models and enables extensive industry connectivity with global travel agency systems, interline routes, industry alliance code-share services, and customer self-service integration systems.

Since transitioning to a low-cost airline in October 2013, Hong Kong Express Airways has experienced rapid business growth and plans to add up to 25 more aircraft by the end of 2018. Just one year after the transformation, over 1 million passengers have flown with Hong Kong Express Airways. To accommodate this rapid growth, Hong Kong Express Airways opted for Navitaire’s highly scalable platform to support its expansion plans and enhance revenue and profitability.

David Evans, CEO of Navitaire (David P. Evans) said: "The Asian air passenger market is dynamic, and Hong Kong Express Airways is well-positioned to capture the strong demand in this market. We are pleased to leverage our information technology strengths to help them fully seize the opportunity. Our integrated solutions will help Hong Kong Express Airways grow into a high-performance airline, particularly by increasing revenue through tailored new ancillary services and leading industry progress."
