Empire State Realty Trust Announces New Public Selection Method for the 21st Annual Empire State Building Valentine’s Day Wedding Event
- The Empire State Building will offer 100 couples the chance to say “I do” atop one of the world’s most romantic buildings
New York, Jan. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: ESRT) today announced the 21st annual Empire State Building (ESB) Valentine’s Day Wedding Contest, which will publicly select 100 couples to fulfill their wedding dreams on the globally iconic 86th-floor observation deck. This new selection method, being used for the first time for the building’s annual contest, will allow couples with a valid New York State marriage license to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on a first-come, first-served basis.
Since opening in 1931, ESB’s world-famous observation deck has served as the backdrop for countless on-screen romances and an ideal venue for couples to tie the knot. This year marks the 21st anniversary of the ESB Valentine’s Day Wedding Contest — the only day of the year when couples can get married at this landmark building.
ESB has also partnered with the Caribbean nation of Aruba to provide a romantic honeymoon trip to the beautiful white-sand beaches of the “Happy Island” for five lucky couples. Randomly selected couples will receive a five-night/six-day romantic stay at the adults-only Brickell Bay Beach Club & Spa Boutique Hotel, including airfare.
Jean-Yves Ghazi, Director of the Empire State Building Observatory, said: “The 21st annual Empire State Building Valentine’s Day Wedding Contest will be our biggest yet. For the first time in our history, we’re offering this opportunity to a broader audience. Participants will have easy access to an unforgettable wedding experience on our observation deck, enjoying unprecedented 360-degree views on one of the most romantic days of the year.”
Engaged couples and those looking to renew their vows at this iconic building on Valentine’s Day can pre-register starting today at http://www.empirestatebuilding.com/valentines-day-weddings-2015. The first 100 couples will be escorted to the observation deck for a private ceremony. The first wedding ceremony will begin at 8:00 AM and will be officiated by Mr. Ghazi.
After the ceremony, couples can enjoy panoramic views, take photos, and receive gift bags from the Aruba Tourism Authority, as well as invitations to the newly opened STATE Grill and Bar at ESB, where they can indulge in complimentary champagne and sweets.
Couples must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid New York State marriage license to marry. Couples may also renew their vows if they can provide a verifiable New York State marriage license.
