The First Nanshan Freeski Open is here for you.

If you think that those who can hit jumps and ride rails at Nanshan’s Mellow Park are all snowboarders, you’re out of the loop. In recent years, with the rise of twin-tip skis, flashy designs and cool tricks have caught the eye of many freeski enthusiasts, who are eager to give it a try. Watching videos of top international skiers over and over, studying their moves, and practicing again and again, they’ve laid the foundation through perseverance and mutual encouragement — but this is just the beginning.

 

From last year’s visit by Salomon FreeSkiers to Nanshan and the debut of SlopeStyle skiing at the Sochi Winter Olympics, to this year’s close interaction between LINE-sponsored TC Team riders and Nanshan freeski players, the freeski community has been thoroughly satisfied. Years of practice have taken them from simply clearing the jump to performing flips, 540 spins, and grabs. The reactions have evolved from an indifferent “Oh” overhead to amazed shouts of “Wow!” and “So cool!” Everyone on the lift can’t help but glance at the big jump, eagerly anticipating the skiers’ stunning performances.

 

On February 15, 2015 — the First Nanshan Freeski Open. Nanshan Mellow Park has prepared a variety of features for freeski players, while The North Face, FreeZone, Movement, Moment, Giro, Minus 2 Degrees, PICTURE, and Yilong Snow Gathering have brought generous prizes for participants. From the freestyle jam competition to the SlopeStyle finals, even beginner freeskiers won’t leave empty-handed. As the freeski community at Yidong says in encouragement: “What was impossible yesterday is today’s limit, and tomorrow’s routine.”
