Valentine’s Day 2015 — A Citywide Kiss Silhouette Event
ChengduFebruary 15, 2015 /PR Newswire/ — On Valentine’s Day, The U.S. Tours Network (www.toursforfun.com) in partnership with IFS launched the "Sweet Kiss Silhouette Booth" event in Chengdu, which quickly became a hot topic among the city’s youth.

Leave a memory“for love”
A small wooden booth quietly appeared yesterday in the plaza next to IFS in the Chunxi Road business district. Adorned with festive pink rose petal patterns, its front featured a large heart-shaped cutout with a white cloth hanging behind it. The mysterious little wooden house caught the attention of passersby, sparking curiosity and conversation.
As dusk fell, the mystery was finally revealed. Pure-colored lights lit up inside the wooden booth, and the silhouette of a couple appeared on the screen, locked in a sweet kiss. It turned out to be a booth where you could showcase your kissing silhouettes !
“Wow, so romantic!” People passing by quickly noticed them and eagerly took out their phones to snap photos, sharing them on Weibo and Moments.
Kiss Mom
Soon after, the young couple inside walked out hand in hand. Mr. Zhang said he had just seen the booth while passing by and decided to go in with his girlfriend. “Once the lights came on inside, our shadows appeared on the screen. There were also pose suggestion boards for kissing — kind of fun.”Mr.Zhang
In just that short time, several other couples went in to take photos. Surprisingly, a young woman walked in with her mother, and deeply kissed her cheek behind the screen. After the photo, Ms. Liu said she and her mom are as close as sisters, and that her mom is quite trendy — they even celebrate Valentine’s Day and Christmas. “Expressing love and gratitude to my mom this way felt really fresh, and the photos turned out beautifully.”
Inspired, members of the onlooking crowd gradually began entering the booth to take family photos, with many parents even bringing along their little babies.
A Citywide Kiss
Coco, the event organizer and brand director of The U.S. Tours Network, explained: “Valentine’s Day is a sweet holiday, and we hope people can share their own sweetness and inspire others. Because Chinese people tend to be more reserved and traditional, publicly kissing might make some shy, and there’s also concern that public kissing has been overdone in many events,” Coco said. “By creating this booth, we offer a relatively intimate, enclosed space, and silhouettes make the images even more beautiful — we believe the effect will be better.”TravelNetworkValentine’sDay
Beyond IFS, similar events were simultaneously held at multiple other locations across Chengdu, including Lan Kwai Fong, Shihao Plaza, and Vientiane City in the eastern part of the city.
Inspiration from Abroad
Coco added that this concept was inspired by a creative idea from overseas netizens. On video-sharing websites, a video titled “Turns Out Kissing Can Be This Beautiful” has been widely reposted, racking up millions of views. The footage shows couples going from shy to sweet inside the booth, and families taking joyful, heartwarming photos together — it’s truly touching to watch.from showcasing affection to...
From showing off affection to“Focus on the inner self”
Looking at the new ways to celebrate this year, people were quite interested, commenting animatedly. Mr. Zhou, a passerby at the scene, had a rather interesting take. He believed that this format shifted people's focus from "showing off affection" to "focusing on the inner self." "Love is actually a shadow in the heart. Projecting that silhouette onto a screen and taking a photo of it—I think it carries quite a bit of meaning. Also, this method shifts attention away from how good-looking the people kissing are, and instead lets people start feeling the emotional expression conveyed during a kiss. From external to internal—there’s some level of spiritual pursuit, I’d say."
As night deepened, the venue remained crowded with people. This Valentine’s Day was a little less flashy and a lot more touching.
