Enterprise Holdings owns and operates the National Car Rental, Alamo Rent A Car and Enterprise Rent-A-Car brands. Peter A. Smith, the company’s vice president of global franchising, said: “We see significant opportunities in Australia, and the addition of a new player truly focused on customer service will drive healthy competition for customer loyalty.”
Through its regional subsidiaries, Enterprise Holdings operates the world’s largest fleet—approximately 1.5 million vehicles—and a global network of more than 8,600 neighborhood and airport locations in over 70 countries. The company’s Enterprise, National and Alamo brands will launch later this year through the Redspot network across all major Australian airports, including international gateways such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, as well as associated city center locations. New Zealand operations will begin online in 2016.
Enterprise Holdings and Redspot will develop aggressive growth plans for both markets to serve the broader transportation needs of domestic and international renters.
Smith added: “This expansion marks the latest milestone in our Asia-Pacific growth strategy. We were very selective in choosing a franchise partner like Redspot, which not only has a successful track record but also shares our values and commitment to customer service.”
Founded in 1989, Redspot is a leader and innovator in the Australian car rental industry. Dan Mekler, Redspot’s managing director and founder, said: “This partnership is a great fit for us. Both Enterprise Holdings and Redspot started as single-location businesses driven by entrepreneurship and an unwavering focus on meeting customer needs. Wherever travelers are headed, we’ll continue to put them first—together.”
The partnership marks Enterprise Holdings’ entry into the Australian and New Zealand markets. Enterprise Holdings is one of the largest companies in the travel industry, surpassing many airlines and most cruise lines, hotels, travel agencies and online travel agencies. Its long-term growth strategy focuses on building a global network that delivers value, choice and exceptional customer service to business and leisure travelers.
