Mr. Mayer has been involved in the opening of six new hotels, including the opening of the Jumeirah Maldives Resort. In October 2012, he rejoined IHG to oversee the preparation of the InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort, which features 303 rooms, 33 luxury villas, and China’s first ocean-themed restaurant. Under his leadership, the resort has won numerous awards and has become one of the top hotels on Hainan Island.
From 1992 to 2001, Mr. Mayer served as General Manager of the prestigious Hotel Crown Plaza Salzburg in Austria. He graduated from MODUL University Vienna in Austria, furthered his studies at Cornell University in the United States, and later attended the “InterContinental Hotels Group General Managers’ Course” in Shanghai.
