In 1990, in a documentary titled "Memory and Imagination" produced by the U.S. Library of Congress, Apple founder Steve Jobs compared humans to other animals to illustrate the inefficiency of human movement. Jobs said, “I saw a study that measured and compared the movement efficiency of various species on Earth, and the Condor used the least energy to move one kilometer.” What Steve pointed out was true: the Condor is an animal that can soar to great heights with just a few wingbeats and is also one of the most efficient foragers. Condor Outdoor is like a mirror of the natural Condor—we meet consumer needs in the most efficient way possible.
Originating in the late 1970s
After the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, a large number of veterans turned to outdoor exploration activities. However, conventional outdoor gear had a high wear rate in extreme environments, making safety hard to guarantee. At the same time, surplus military supplies were gradually entering the public eye, which inspired the founder of CONDOR (Condor) to adapt them for outdoor use. In the late 1970s, the CONDOR (Condor) brand was officially established in Duarte, at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains in California, as a tactical equipment brand.
The inspiration for the CONDOR (Condor) brand comes from the California condor (scientific name: Gymnogyps californianus), which belongs to the New World vulture family of the Cathartidae family. Among all birds in North America, it has one of the widest wingspans and is one of the heaviest. The CONDOR brand consistently conveys to its followers the “Eagle-style Military Spirit”—an ethos that aligns with the laws of nature but does not submit to them, dares to challenge personal limits, and embodies fearless courage.
