Ichiran Ramen NYC Opens – A Bowl Costs Nearly $600 NTD

The third overseas branch of Ichiran Ramen, its New York location, opened on the 19th local time. Although it's situated in the relatively distant Bushwick district of Brooklyn, far from downtown, it attracted a large crowd of fans waiting in line even before opening. The queue included not only visitors from Asia but also local Americans, with an average wait time of about 1 to 2 hours.

The NYC branch also follows Ichiran’s tradition with private single-person booths and vending-style ticket machines. However, there is also a regular dining area available for groups. Due to New York’s inherently high cost of living, Ichiran Ramen isn’t cheap either — a bowl of ramen is priced at $18.9 (nearly 596 NTD), with extra noodles costing between $2.9 (91 NTD) and $3.9 (123 NTD), and an additional bowl of plain rice also priced at $3.9.

Currently, Ichiran Ramen has overseas branches in Hong Kong (2 locations) and New York, USA (1 location). In a recent interview with the Nikkei, Ichiran President Yoshitomi Yoshitomi stated that they plan to enter Taiwan in the fall of 2017, not only opening a ramen shop but also establishing a noodle factory.
