China is a mountainous country with abundant natural resources and a favorable outdoor environment. As social and environmental pressures increase, getting close to nature has become the deepest desire of urban dwellers. However, few people in China actually engage in outdoor sports. How to understand the precautions in outdoor activities, how to master climbing and mountaineering techniques to protect oneself from harm, and how to properly use outdoor gear — these are all challenges faced when getting closer to nature. KOLON SPORT, from a professional perspective, has conducted an in-depth analysis of the current state of China's outdoor participation, making the introduction of the Mountaineering School into China an urgent necessity.
The KOLON China Mountaineering School adopts the motto “Reasonable, Free, and Progressive.” Building on the technical foundation accumulated through traditional outdoor climbing, it delivers effective education through a teaching plan that combines theory and practice. This approach conveys correct climbing techniques and outdoor safety skills, achieving an educational model where theory and practice are effectively integrated. The instructor team, equipped with strong climbing abilities and rich teaching experience, provides individualized guidance in a 1-to-4 or 1-to-5 ratio, enabling participants to gain a deeper experience in outdoor sports. Through diverse approaches, they are also exposed to global climbing trends, study and master the latest climbing techniques, and disseminate them to domestic enthusiasts as quickly as possible. Moreover, KOLON Mountaineering School does not adhere to convention; it constantly researches more effective teaching methods and develops up-to-date teaching materials to improve educational quality. While enhancing climbing skills and broadening outdoor horizons, it also imparts safety awareness and methods to all participants through a progressive educational approach and attitude.
The 14 instructors of the China KOLON Mountaineering School come from various professional backgrounds as seasoned outdoor enthusiasts. Their rich outdoor experience, passion for climbing, and young, open-minded thinking have brought them together with the mountaineering school, as they aspire to lead Chinese outdoor sports enthusiasts to connect with nature and enjoy the joy of outdoor climbing. With 2015 marking the beginning of the mountaineering school in China, Principal Lee Yong-dae said, “The establishment of the KOLON Mountaineering School in China is a brand-new chapter. We will devote ourselves even more wholeheartedly, provide higher-quality educational services, and strive to achieve the goals set by our school motto.” The KOLON China Mountaineering School is a non-profit educational institution, hoping solely through its own efforts to promote the development and popularity of China’s climbing culture, bring continuous innovation and progress to China’s mountaineering movement, and create a brand-new outdoor era where everyone can participate and celebrate together.
