Get lost in a 7-hectare sunflower sea — a romantic flower maze exclusive to the Spring Festival

Taiwan enjoys a pleasant climate with distinct seasons, and beautiful flower seas can be found across the island. Examples include the Hakka Tung Blossom Festival in April, the lotus blooms in Tainan’s Baihe District in July, and the Chrysanthemum flowers of Qiuxue in Miaoli in November. The vast blooming scenes are truly breathtaking. This year, during the Spring Festival, Kaohsiung’s Siaogang District will expand its offerings to create Taiwan’s largest sunflower maze flower sea.

Siaogang District is located in the northeastern part of Kaohsiung City, with the Qishan River running vertically through the area, nurturing fertile land. Taiwan’s climate is suitable for sunflower cultivation year-round, and Kaohsiung, with its year-long sunny and warm weather, is especially ideal for sunflower growth. Last year, the Sunflower Maze City covered an area of 3.1 hectares; it also featured four major flower zones: Moonlight Flower Field, Meimei Flower Field, Siaogang Bridge Flower Field, and Xinzhuang Happiness Flower Field. Sunflowers, cosmos, and African marigolds were interspersed throughout the various viewing areas, creating a vibrant and colorful spectacle.

To attract more tourists during this year’s Lunar New Year holiday, the Yonglin Farm will expand the sunflower flower sea maze to cover a whopping 7 hectares. The floral display is sure to be even more magnificent. Those who wish to admire the spectacular sunflower maze should stay tuned for the opening times during the Spring Festival.
