The 2015 “Play Photography” Cup’s first million-yuan prize national photography exhibition launched with the May Day holiday and, although the holiday is over, the submission fervor is still heating up. Many photography lovers submitted new works taken during the break, and in no time, a wealth of high-caliber works poured onto the “Play Photography” platform, making the competition especially vibrant. Particularly in the entries under the “Mobile Photography – Shoot Whenever You Like” theme, many impressive photography skills and creative concepts emerged, with participant enthusiasm matching that of the camera photography theme.
The photography competition started on May 1st, with each month constituting a competition round. For both themes, a total of 400 (sets of) works are selected as finalists each month—70% chosen by public vote and 30% recommended by experts. Each participant can have a maximum of 5 (sets of) works selected per theme per month. Submissions and voting open on the 1st of each month and close on the last day of the same month. The list of selected works for the previous round is announced on the 15th of the following month, and when the next round begins, all submissions and voting restart. Participants can upload a maximum of 20 (sets of) works per day, with no more than 10 in a series. Each person can cast a maximum of 20 votes per day, with only one vote allowed per (set of) work per person per day. Photography enthusiasts worldwide are welcome to actively participate in submissions and voting.
After the 12 competition rounds throughout the year, all selected works will be evaluated together in the finals in May 2016. The finals will select 640 (sets of) works, with a total prize pool of 1 million yuan. The specific award categories are as follows:
Theme One: “Play Photography, See the World”
Gold Prize (35 works/series) — 10,000 RMB each
Silver Prize (45 works/series) — 3,000 RMB each
Bronze Prize (60 works/series) — 1,000 RMB each
Merit Prize (310 works/series) — 500 RMB each
Theme Two: “Mobile Photography, Shoot Whenever You Like”
Gold Prize (15 works/series) — 10,000 RMB each
Silver Prize (20 works/series) — 3,000 RMB each
Bronze Prize (25 works/series) — 1,000 RMB each
Merit Prize (130 works/series) — 500 RMB each
