Romantic autumn is the perfect season for love!

Autumn is ideal for confessing your feelings, and the setting plays a big role. In northern Taiwan, there are three romantic spots perfect for different types of couples. The first is Chifeng Street in Taipei City, ideal for artsy couples; the second is Macau Bridge on Yangmingshan, great for upbeat, outdoorsy couples; and the third is Fugui Cape Lighthouse, a dreamy spot suited for romantic souls.

Chifeng Street is an emerging hipster enclave in Taipei. Its prime area lies between Nanjing West Road and Minsheng West Road. Originally adjacent to an old railway line, the area was once home to many car repair shops and hardware wholesalers. Today, Chifeng Street features hair salons, fashion design boutiques, and cozy cafés. With its narrow alleys and simple concrete houses, you can stroll from one end to the other in under 30 minutes. The area is more affordable than Fujin Street or the East District, offering great value.

Located along the Yangjin Highway, Yangmingshan’s Macau Bridge is accessible by going up Yangde Boulevard and passing Zhushan Lake. The area has natural hot springs, and offers views of the Jinshan Plain and the north coast. The bridge has a round arch design with white against the green mountain backdrop. The best time for a confession is at dusk—after 5 PM but before full darkness—when the streetlights come on, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that boosts your chances of success.

Fugui Cape Lighthouse is the northernmost lighthouse in Taiwan, located in Fugui Cape, Shimen District, New Taipei City. The lighthouse itself is an iconic black-and-white octagonal structure with a history spanning over a century. Nearby, you can explore Laomei’s algal reefs and enjoy fresh seafood at Fugui Fishing Port—perfect for a day trip or half-day excursion. It gets very sunny in summer and strong northeast monsoon winds in winter, so autumn and spring are the best seasons to visit. The sunset here is stunning, and the starry night sky is breathtaking—both make ideal backdrops for a confession.
