The 0KM starting point of the Cycling Route No. 1 around Taiwan Island has been launched — the full route spans 939.5 kilometers, perfect for an exciting ride.

The “Cycling Route No. 1 around Taiwan Island” was completed and opened to the public at the end of 2015. This route circles the entire island by bicycle, enabling travelers who enjoy cycling around Taiwan or participating in road cycling sports to ride safely on roads marked with dedicated bicycle signage. Recently, the Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications launched the 0KM starting point of the “Cycling Route No. 1 around Taiwan Island” at the square of Taipei Songshan Railway Station and planned 13 branch routes that connect to famous scenic spots, allowing cyclists to enrich their itineraries and enjoy the ride.

The 0KM starting point of Cycling Route No. 1 was officially unveiled at Songshan Railway Station on the morning of the 22nd. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications also took this opportunity to form a dedicated inspection team for Cycling Route No. 1, embarking on a 9-day, 8-night cycling assessment trip around the island to comprehensively review the cycling environment of the “Cycling Route No. 1 around Taiwan Island,” making the road rights and riding conditions more cyclist-friendly.

The route of Cycling Route No. 1 not only considers the basic needs of riders such as safety, continuity, friendliness, and directness, but also takes into account food and accommodation options, supply points, attractions, and seamless train connections along the way. Cyclists can complete the loop in 9 days, and there are also 13 branch routes that connect to famous attractions such as Sun Moon Lake in Nantou, the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum in Chiayi, Kenting Hengchun, and national scenic areas, allowing for more diverse itinerary planning.

Additionally, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has designed a “Cycling Route No. 1 around Taiwan Island” travel guide. By carrying the travel guide or downloading the “Ride & Dream APP” on your phone, you can have access to the most comprehensive route maps, supply stations, attractions, and food information along Cycling Route No. 1.
