Previously, while heading out for a meal with friends and passing by Minsheng Road, I noticed that the two-story restaurant near the intersection with Zhongyang Road had closed down and been replaced by this place called Dianjing Shi. After checking at home, I found out it used to be the Minsheng Seafood Sichuan Restaurant on Jinguo Road — I remembered it because... the black eatery I’d visited two or three times before was right next to its former location.

Since its official operating hours go until 2 AM, and since I hadn’t eaten dinner on a certain Saturday and only decided to head out after 11 PM, I figured I’d come here rather than trek all the way to Gongdao 5 for late-night stir-fries. When I arrived, probably a bit late, there were just a few tables downstairs with people eating and drinking. The menu had plenty of options, most priced between NT$160 and NT$300, but there was also a 10% service charge.

I thought this would come out early, but it actually arrived when we were almost finished eating. I thought the chef had forgotten about it, but turns out the prawns are blanched and cooked fresh, which takes longer (though perhaps a bit too long...). The shrimp meat was springy and sweet, and underneath were lettuce and cucumber — not a wasted addition. It seemed pricey but was actually pretty decent, with a generous portion. Keeping it freshly made is the best approach.

Compared to some NT$100 stir-fry joints, I’d say this place is quite sincere. The beef slices were of good quality and portioned generously, the stir-frying skill was solid, with a nice fiery wok flavor — delicious and great with rice. For the price, it’s very much worth it. If you’ve found the stir-fried beef at other places lacking, give this one a try.

The ingredient quality was noticeably lacking — the clams weren’t very plump, and the seasoning and cooking method were just average.

The oysters were surprisingly decent, flavorful and not skimpy at all — they even increased as you stirred. The eggs were just plainly fried, but there were quite a few leek pieces, making it a solid dish.

It’s essential to have a plate of greens. The stems weren’t tough, and the portion was decent for NT$150.

When it was served, I thought they’d made a mistake and given me a large portion by accident. This bowl could easily feed 4–5 people. I’ve been eating sour mustard pork tripe soup since I was little, so I can confidently say this version was pretty skillfully made — it had the right level of tanginess, plenty of tender and tasty pork tripe, and I personally think it’s a high value-for-money soup.

The overall standard of this meal was much better than expected. The bill, including drinks and the 10% service charge, came to around NT$1,400. Since each portion wasn’t small, two people ordering this much was clearly overkill (slipped up again), so we had to take leftovers home. Now we have another late-night spot for stir-fries.
