Let’s follow the melody and take a look at the first joint training of these two aspiring teams.
5On the afternoon of the31, the Humanities Scientific Expedition Team of the Peak Cloud Society from China Agricultural University and the Mountain Eagle Scientific Expedition Team from Peking University held their first joint training session at Olympic Forest Park.
That day,14members of the Peak Cloud Society scientific expedition team12and members of the Mountain Eagle Society engaged in cheerful interaction. The joint training was divided into three parts: the first was three team-building games — using “counting sevens” to quickly help everyone get acquainted, and using the “singing to find a partner” and “big wind blows” games to liven up the atmosphere. The Mountain Eagle Society’s performance of “Believe in Yourself, No Limits” and the Peak Cloud Society’s “Song of the Peak Cloud” both left a deep impression; the second part was an open-hearted conversation. As brotherly societies with similar teams, the members discussed daily training routines, usual responsibilities, and the selection of research topics, raising their own questions and sharing experiences. After this relaxed and pleasant exchange, the two scientific expedition teams used ink pads to write each other’s names and took commemorative group photos. The final part was the essential physical training for the teams. Accompanied by songs, both teams ran a full lap around the Olympic Forest Park running track at a steady pace.
It is reported that the Humanities Scientific Expedition Team of the Peak Cloud Society is the only university team in China that has continuously conducted summer social practice in Tibet for ten years. This year marks the eleventh time they have entered the Tibetan region, where they will provide a week of teaching support in Lhasa, undertake a pilgrimage trek around Mount Kailash, and conduct social research in Pulan County, Ngari Prefecture. “Meeting at Peak Cloud for the Tibet Journey, Carrying the Spirit of CAU Across a Thousand Miles” is the belief of the team members and also their promise to Tibet and to themselves. A member of the CAU scientific expedition team said, “We just want to do something at eighteen that we’ll still smile about when we’re eighty.” Meanwhile, the Peking University Mountain Eagle Scientific Expedition Team has a history of26years and has traveled to countless places in southwestern China. This year, their research will be conducted in the Gongga Mountain area of Sichuan.
