Smart Sports, the Future is Here — The 5th Channel Sports Crossover Series Forum

This forum marked the first stop of the 5th Channel Sports Crossover Series Forums, with the theme "Smart Sports." The event invited mobile device manufacturers, investors in related fields, pioneers in wearable technology, well-known athletes, sports enthusiasts, and brand representatives to jointly explore the path of cross-sector collaboration between the tech and sports industries. Guo Fuhua, former Director of the Policy and Regulation Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Xiang Jun, Executive Editor-in-Chief of 5th Channel Magazine, delivered opening remarks.

Guo Fuhua, former Director of the Policy and Regulation Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, pointed out that the rapid development of mobile internet is now deeply penetrating all aspects of China's economy and society, giving rise to many new industries. The first session of the forum featured keynote speeches. Chen Ming, Editor-in-Chief of 5th Channel Magazine, Cai Xupeng, Director of MBB and Home Product Innovation at Huawei, Shen Bo, Founder of GuRun, Gan Quan, CTO of QingCloud, and Liu Xiaobo, a leading figure in Chinese men’s taekwondo and Olympic medalist, sharedtheirinsightful speeches

based on their respective fields’ perspectives on "Smart Sports."Chen Ming, Editor-in-Chief of 5th Channel Magazine, gave the first keynoteon the topicof “Editorial Perspectives: Solutions to Pain Points in Sports,”offeringa unique perspectiveon the social benefits of sports, the dawn of a new era in the sports industry, and the development of sports services, along with hisreflections. He provided incisive and detailed insights across nine specific areas: sports data, social connectivity, venues, equipment, competition, motivation, training, rehabilitation, and family. “Currently, most emerging areas in the sports industry focus on solving lower-level pain points, which has had a tremendous driving effect. However, higher-level pain points remain difficult to address due to inherent barriers in technology, resources, and systems. These challenges need to be overcome, but the prospects are promising.”

Cai Xupeng, Director of MBB and Home Product Innovation at Huawei, introduced the product philosophy behind the Huawei Honor Band zero as “the most balanced smart bracelet,” analyzing the actual needs of smart bracelet users. These include the five most frequently used applications: fitness tracking, activity logging, health monitoring, timekeeping, and viewing messages. Healso shared his personalexperience withwearable devices and how it has impacted his exercise habits.,elaboratedon Huaweiand Honor productdesignconcepts and innovative ideas, which sparked great interestandattention among the attendees.

Shen Bo, founder of Codoon, delivered a speech titled “A Sports Data Platform Based on Device Intelligence.” In hislively and humorous presentation,he introduced the concepts of “2Cand ‘2B’”whichfurtherelicitedtheagreementof the guests present, especiallyinvestment institutions,as well as their resonance.He proposed viewpoints such as “Smart bracelets win through software and services; value-added data services and social connection chains are the core of the service,” and “Powerful data displays can be dull — human interaction is what lasts,” whichdrewrounds of applause from theaudience.

Gan Quan, CTO of QingCloud, deliveredakeynote speech titled “The Cornerstone of the Cloud · Free Computing,”from a professional cloud computing perspective,explainingexplainsAtthistime when everything is connected through the internet, the foundational layer supports the intelligent sports world of the application layer. Gan Quan vividly compared cloud computing to the development of electric power resources, depicting how in the foreseeablefuture,people will use cloud computing resources as conveniently andwidelyas flipping a switch.

Liu Xiaobo, a leading figure in Chinese men’s taekwondo, shared his first-hand experience as a professionalathlete,anddelivereda speech to the audience titled “The Application of Modern Technology in Competitive Physical Training,” showcasing the modelsandmethodsof competitive physical training under big data. He not only discussed his understanding of sports training, the evolution of modern physical conditioning, and the scientific control of competitive sports training processes, but also demonstrated the classification and monitoring schemes during the training cycles of competitive sports teams.

The second segment of the forum was the “Cross-Sector Roundtable Dialogue.” The first group’s theme was “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Intelligent Sports Industry,” moderated by Mr. Pu Yuanbin, President of Mobile Circle Media.moderated,withdialogue participants including Ni Jianzhong, Executive Vice President of the China Mobile Communications Federation, Cai Qian, Chairman of Guotong Electronics Co., Ltd., Zhang Feng, Vice President of Visionary Technology, and Xie Zhong, founder of Rice Noodle Ride and an outdoor sports enthusiast. Drawing from their respectivefields and industries, they exchanged insights on theintelligentsportssector, sparking engaging discussions.
