At the 12th China Hotel Groups Development Forum and 9th International Forum on Hotel Brand Building, HNA Hotels Group President John Kidd participated in a roundtable discussion and shared his views on the topic of "New Demands and New Positioning in the Hotel Market." President John Kidd said:"Currently, the traditional investment model of high-end hotel property appreciation and real estate supporting has encountered difficulties. In 2014, more than 30% of five-star hotel projects were suspended or terminated. The rapid development of real estate has led to an oversupply of hotel investments, where supply exceeds demand, resulting in poor operating performance of high-end hotels. The central government’s 'Eight Regulations, Six Bans''EightRules and SixProhibitions'and the new travel policies issued by government departments have significantly reduced the performance of high-end hotels. High labor costs and energy consumption in hotels continue to erode profits. Currently, the mid-range hotel market is a gap in China’s hotel industry, with major international hotel groups and economy hotel groups planning or beginning to enter the mid-range market. HNA Hotels Group is committed to building China’s leading hotel group and creating a world-class Chinese hotel brand. By optimizing asset structure, we will also enter the mid-range market, strengthen management outsourcing, develop through multiple models (to increase scale), and build an international system (to improve control). At the same time, to overcome the current situation, we have introduced Club Vac (Joy Vacation Club); established the Loyalty Club frequent guest program; and cooperated with internationally renowned companies on member marketing activities. In the next 3–5 years, the development trends in China’s hotel industry will include: group-based hotel development; information and intelligent development; continuous and stable growth in the scale and efficiency of star-rated hotels; the internet becoming the biggest platform for hotel marketing; hotel services entering a phase of customization; hotel management becoming more humanized; and creating unique hotel cultures becoming a trend. HNA Hotels Group will take the new demands and new positioning of the market and consumers as the core development direction, continuously improving service facilities and innovating service concepts. We will always uphold the HNA sentiment philosophy of 'Serving with Heart, Doing with Care''Serving with Heart, Doing with Care'to provide consumers with the highest quality service experience."
