Wulong’s highly distinctive cultural village—Zhongxia Shiyuan Tiankeng
Recently, reporters learned from the Wulong Publicity Department that the first "Charming Fairy Mountain" characteristic culture and art exhibition in Wulong will kick off on July 17 at Fairy Square in Fairy Mountain Town, Wulong. At that time, participants will not only be able to view a variety of Wulong’s intangible cultural heritage items but also enjoy dynamic song and dance performances rich in Wulong’s unique geographical characteristics.
It is reported that this art exhibition is led by the Wulong County Publicity Department and the Culture and Sports Commission, in collaboration with the government of Fairy Mountain Town, Wulong County. Its aim is to promote Wulong’s distinctive folk culture and boost tourism promotion in the area. Through intangible cultural heritage displays, top-tier county-wide cultural and art performances, local cultural showcases, specialty tourism product recommendations, and exhibitions of works by renowned calligraphers and painters, it offers visitors a vivid and intuitive “Wulong Tourism” encyclopedia experience.
As the inaugural event, this exhibition season will run until mid-August (from July 17 to August 8). During the day, visitors can participate in a series of fun local sports activities, and each evening they can enjoy a variety of Wulong folk culture performances. Throughout the one-month exhibition period, as representative examples of Wulong’s regional intangible cultural heritage, elements such as dragon and lion dances, suona, panpipes, and gong-and-drum performances will make rare appearances. All 23 towns in the county along with performing arts troupes will join forces to create special cultural events including the “Intangible Cultural Heritage Night” on July 24, the “Xueling Fairy Mountain Cup Music and Dance Competition” on July 25, and the “Zhongxia Shiyuan Folk Village Night” on July 31. These events are sure to add another highlight to Wulong’s tourism offerings.
