He is one of the many climbers who love mountains, rock faces, and ice. He moves between cliffs and frozen landscapes, and is also known as an outdoor photographer. This is Zhao Zhongjun. Over more than ten years of climbing, the activity has been a form of discipline for him, while photography has been his way of recording. His climbing is not about competition or difficulty; like most climbers, he climbs, experiences, reflects, and moves forward through the passage of time with his own small efforts.
Climbing on ice career: 7 ice seasons, having climbed in China’s Siguniangshan Shuangqiaogou, the Taihang Mountain Range in Shanxi and Henan, Benxi in the Northeast, as well as in Italy’s GOGNE and VALSVARENCHE. Completed the best routes rated WI6+ drytooling M8+.
Best experiences:
In 2014, he represented China in ice climbing at the “UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup in Korea” for the first time, winning the “Golden Rhino Outdoor Best Team Award.” He was also a core member of the route-setting team for “Rock Journey.”
In 2013, he went on climbing trips to Greece and Spain; participated in an ice climbing exchange event in Siguniangshan; embarked on ice climbing trips to Italy’s Valle d'Aosta and France’s Chamonix with dry tooling exchange activities; and joined the traditional climbing event in Yunnan’s Laojunshan as part of KAILAS’ national “Rock Journey” route-setting campaign.
