Beijing,2015year9month12day:in Mentougou District,Lingshui Village,250hikingenthusiastsjoined the “Green Mountains Action,” jointly initiated by Green World Outdoor and Greenpeace. After cleaning up trash along the hiking trail,theyusedtheir body formations to spell out the message “NO PFC”(Refuse Perfluorinated Compounds)”, calling on outdoor brands to reject the use of toxic and hazardous chemicals in production and to reduce the invisible“pollution
left on nature. Perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) have waterproof and stain-resistant properties,andare commonly used in the production of waterproof outdoor gear.However,studies have shown that some PFCs can affect the human endocrinesystemand may even be carcinogenic.
Recently, Greenpeace visited 10 popular global destinations for outdoor enthusiasts, including China’s Haba Snow Mountain, Slovakia’s High Tatras, Italy’s Gran Sasso, and Switzerland’s Ebertswil.DetectionThese snow and lake water samples from remote areas revealed that even places rarely visited by humans,alsoare contaminated by the synthetic environmental hormone “perfluorinated compounds (PFCs).”Green Field Outdoor and Greenpeace hope to raise awareness among more outdoor enthusiasts through this campaign,PFCsabout the issue,
