The new home of the China-Arab States Economic Forum — the Ningxia International Convention Center — was designed by tvsdesign.
Yinchuan, September 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — The Ningxia International Convention Center has now opened in Yinchuan, the capital city of China’s Ningxia Province. The 700,000-square-foot facility is the new home of the annualfive-dayeconomic and trade forum, which has been held every year since 2010. The new convention center broke ground in early 2013 and was completed in time for the sixth session of the forum.

One of the most striking elements in the design of the Ningxia Convention Center is a dynamic steel screen thatweavestogether circles and squares. These pure geometric forms vividly represent the histories and cultures of both China and the Muslim world. The designers at tvsdesign collaborated closely with the Ausia Structural Engineering Group to develop this uniquely crafted steel screen structure, which consists of more than 30,000 individual frames.
This exquisitely detailed and dynamic exterior alsoserves as amodern interpretation of ancient church and mosque designs. In addition, this spectacular façade structure not only acts as a unified envelope but also protects the site from the excessive sun exposure of the desert climate by filtering intense daylight and reducing solar heat gain.
