From September 25 to October 25 this autumn, the first Aerospace City Camping Carnival will be held at the Dongfeng Populus Euphratica Forest Camping Park in Jiuquan, Gansu.

The Dongfeng Populus Euphratica Forest Camping Park is located within the Dongfeng Space City of the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Gansu Province. It is the second motorhome campsite under the "Golden Snail Camping" management brand of BTG Group. Leveraging the presence of the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, it serves as a crucial node in the group’s northwest motorhome camping strategic layout. This area is the cradle of China’s space industry, shouldering major tasks such as national satellite launches, manned space missions, and national defense. Dreams of space exploration take off here, and the weight of national defense is shouldered here. The Space City is a renowned patriotic education base and a hub for youth science learning. Visitors can enter the Space City to tour the launch pads, the Wentiange Building, and the museum. Every September and October marks the satellite launch window, and lucky visitors may even witness a launch with their own eyes.

With the Quiet Heishui River gently flowing and populus euphratica forests surrounding the area, it is the only camping park in the vicinity offering five-star accommodation. The park is home to vast stands of populus euphratica, tamarisk, and other plants, with various sand dunes dotting the forested areas. The entire site maintains excellent original ecological conditions, often frequented by wild pheasants, rabbits, and other animals. Without compromising the beauty of the populus euphratica, two wooden boardwalks totaling 1,200 meters have been specially built—one leading directly to ten integrated scenic guest rooms, and the other to the shores of the Heishui River. The campsite includes the Populus Euphratica Forest Park, with the main reception center covering a construction area of 5,000 square meters, featuring front desk services, guest accommodations, dining and entertainment, conference and incentive facilities, as well as RV parking and tent camping areas. Some RV units are available for guests to experience lodging, and the restaurant can accommodate up to 200 diners simultaneously.
The Dongfeng Populus Euphratica Forest Camping Park neighbors Ejina Banner to the north, connects to Jiayuguan in Jiuquan to the south, and links to the Badain Jaran Desert to the east, giving it a highly advantageous geographical position. The completion of the camping park will actively promote BTG Group’s strategy for developing leisure tourism in the northwest and contribute to the construction of the Silk Road tourism economic belt.

1. Jiuquan Satellite Launch Base:The Jiuquan Satellite Launch Base is China’s earliest and largest satellite launch center, as well as a comprehensive launch site for various types of carrier rockets and sounding rockets. It boasts complete and reliable launch facilities capable of deploying satellites into medium and low Earth orbits with larger inclinations. Since its establishment in 1958, the center has achieved eight remarkable firsts in China’s aerospace history: on April 21, 1970, China’s first artificial Earth satellite was launched here; on November 26, 1975, the first recoverable satellite was sent into space; on May 18, 1980, the first long-range carrier rocket headed toward a designated area in the Pacific; on September 20, 1981, three satellites were launched into space with a single rocket... To date, the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center has successfully launched 21 scientific experiment satellites, including 8 recoverable ones with a 100% success rate. It is one of China’s three most famous satellite launch bases.

Yangguan Ruins:“I urge you to drink one more cup of wine, for beyond Yangguan there’ll be no more friends.” Though the original appearance of Yangguan, frequently mentioned in ancient poetry, has not been preserved, its ruins remain. The journey from the Dongfeng Populus Euphratica Forest Camping Park to the Yangguan Ruins is approximately 676 kilometers and takes about 10 hours.
3. Crescent Lake:Crescent Lake is located 5 kilometers southwest of Dunhuang City. Known as one of the “Eight Scenic Spots of Dunhuang” since the Han Dynasty, it earned its name from its crescent shape and is hailed as the “First Spring in the Desert.” This magical lake is a spectacular sight in the vast desert. Nestled among sand dunes at the foot of the Singing Sand Mountains, the spring forms a pool surrounded by dunes. The water flows amid the drifting sands but never dries up in drought nor is buried by windblown sand—an astonishing phenomenon. Legend says the lake is home to iron-back fish and seven-star grass, known to cure ailments and grant immortality, hence it’s also called the “Medicinal Spring.” Historical records suggest that Crescent Lake was already a tourist attraction in the Han Dynasty. It’s said that Emperor Wu of Han obtained heavenly horses from the Waha Pool, which many believe to be Crescent Lake, leading to the erection of a stone tablet inscribed “Han Waha Pool.”
4. Singing Sand Mountains:The Singing Sand Mountains are a national key scenic area. Located approximately seven kilometers south of Dunhuang City in Gansu Province, they span about 200 square kilometers, extending from the northern foothills of the Mogao Caves in the east to the Danghe Reservoir in the west. The entire mountain range consists of fine, grainy yellow sand. When strong winds blow, the dunes emit loud sounds, while gentle breezes make them sound like orchestral music—hence the name Singing Sand Mountains.
